Outdoor Worship Update

Dear Friends in Christ,

Time moves on and the summer months are upon us! As we continue to worship and witness, learn and serve, this email serves as an update about plans for worship this summer. (Shepherds will also be sharing this information with their assigned households.)

Outdoor Worship on July 12th at 9:15am
We now have the technology we need to try outdoor worship for the first time this Sunday. Worship will also be available via Zoom. No matter how you choose to participate in worship, please have any prayer requests to Pastor Melissa by Saturday at 5pm.

If you choose to join us outside, we will gather in the lower level lot and enter and exit using the drive nearest the building. Parking attendants will help you find a place to park on the pavement in the shade. Worship will be transmitted through a short distance FM wave on 88.9, so you will stay in your car and use your radio to hear the service. You may also choose to bring a lawn chair and a portable radio to sit in the shade in grassy areas, grouped by household. Social distancing of 6ft will be maintained at all times. Worship leaders will be wearing masks as they will be unable to maintain that distance.

Other Info about Outdoor Worship:

  • This is a BYOC (bring your own communion) service. We will share the bread just as we have been sharing it virtually.
  • An electronic worship outline and copy of the readings for each week can be accessed here and on the front page of our website. You can access them on a mobile device or can print them out in advance. No paper copies will be distributed on Sunday.
  • An offering box will be available at the drive as you enter and exit. You can also continue to give electronically or by mailing in your offering.
  • As you leave, Pastor Melissa will greet each vehicle.

Other Worship Reminders
MOD-ified Church Kit:
Resources for worship, devotions, and fellowship at home. In each kit you’ll find prayers, candles, Flat Martin Luther, and more! A full explanation and description is also included in each box. If you would like one, contact Elizabeth Carr who can be reached at 314-306-4615 or [email protected]. A small supply will be available on the table outside of the offices. Please let Elizabeth know if you take one so the stock can be replenished.

Summer Series using the OT semi-continuous readings
Over the summer, worship and preaching will follow the semi-continuous Old Testament readings that are an option through the Revised Common Lectionary. The semi-continuous Old Testament readings focus on major Genesis narratives, the covenant with Moses, and the establishment of Israel in the Promised Land.
