Members and Friends of Lutheran Church of the Living Christ,
Fall is almost upon us (even if it doesn’t feel like it yet!) and we are entering a new season of the church year. As we continue to worship and witness, learn and serve, this email serves as an update about upcoming worship and program events this fall.

Virtual Sunday School begins September 13th
This fall, we will explore what it means to have compassion for others, ourselves, and the world. In partnership with other ELCA congregations, pre-recorded videos will be shared each week on our Facebook Page and in a Facebook group specifically for Sunday School. They can be viewed at your leisure. While the majority of the content will be provided online, there will also be activities and materials provided for you to do together at home. Be sure to let Pastor Melissa know how you would like to receive the materials.

Season of Stewardship
This year’s stewardship theme is “Our Money Story”. Together we will remember, release, reimagine, and restore our money stories so that we can write the one God is calling us to live into. Bulletins for this season can be found here. Join us for worship as we focus on the following stories and themes:
September 13: Remember – Manna in the desert and The Last Supper
September 20: Release – The year of canceled debts and Jesus and the rich man
September 27: Reimagine – The Year of Jubilee and The widow’s mite
October 4: Restore- Esau forgives Jacob and Jesus appears to the disciples
In the coming weeks, you will receive an additional stewardship letter and pledge card by mail. Please return your pledge card by October 4, which will be a day of joyful response to God’s gift of grace. Pledge cards can be turned in with your regular giving, placed in the offering box, or left in the Stewardship mail slot in the coat room outside the sanctuary.

God’s Work Our Hands
We will focus on three initiatives for Gods Work, Our Hands during the month of September, celebrating our efforts on Sunday, September 13th during worship:
Diaper Drive for the St. Louis Area Diaper Bank helping low-income families in St. Louis region.
Tie Fleece Blankets for organ donors and families
Letters for Nursing Home Staff and Residents

COVID-19 Presentation
On September 20th from 2-3pm, Sarah Crosley from the St. Louis Health Department will be providing a COVID-19 update. She will be presenting in the church parking lot using the FM transmitter. All you need to do to participate is come in your car and tune in. Social distancing will be enforced. If you choose to sit outside your vehicle, masks must be worn. This event is sponsored by Living Christ and the Wedgwood Association. Alongside this event, The Bridge has requested to join in and offer fair trade items for sale. Come by a few minutes early or stick around afterward to check out their offerings. Masks and social distancing will be required here as well.
