Holy Week, the center of the church’s year, is one of striking contrasts: Jesus rides into Jerusalem surrounded by shouts of glory, only to be left alone to die on the cross. We enter this holy week thirsty for the completion of God’s astonishing work: from death comes new and abundant life for us and all creation.
Join us for worship as we again journey with Jesus through his passion, crucifixion, death, and resurrection. Specific details for each service and worship opportunity are detailed below.
Palm and Passion Sunday – 3/28
Worship via Zoom at 9:15am
Palm branches, coloring pages, and communion supplies will be available for pick up after worship on 3/21 and throughout the week. Get in touch with Pastor Melissa or Cynthia if you need to schedule a time for pick up. This service will include a series of scripture readings, followed by spoken or musical responses and reflections.
Maundy Thursday – 4/1
Worship via Zoom at 6pm
Our service will be in the form of an Agape Feast where we will worship and share a meal together.
Good Friday – 4/2
On Good Friday, we will engage the story of Jesus’ passion and crucifixion through a Stations of the Cross journey throughout the St. Louis area. This experience will make connections between Jesus’ story and our own experiences in this particular time and place. There are eight stations, beginning in the heart of St. Louis City and expanding outward through the county. You can download the devotional on the Eastern Missouri Conference website: emc-online.org.
This is an experience you can do on your own or by joining a caravan. Plan to meet at the Missouri Botanical Garden a little before noon for the caravan. Please RSVP for whatever option you choose so we can gauge participation:
Additionally, Pr. Andrew Baumgartner and Pr. Melissa Woeppel will lead a time of discussion and prayer at 7pm as a way to debrief this experience. To join the Zoom meeting:
